The classic steamer! - Asian cooking is incomplete without a steamer. Most of the Asian cuisines are steamed well before stir frying or deep frying. By steaming, the flavors are locked and the nutrients are retained for a better eating experience. There are wooden steamers of different shapes and sizes and are designed in an attractive manner. The common steamer found in most households is made of bamboo and has a diameter of 6 inches. It has separate vertical compartments inside for cooking different types of food. It can be used as a serving vessel as well, where the steamed food can be directly served from the steamer. More than one type of food can be cooked at the same time with the flavors intact.
